Are you a Clinical Coder looking for a change, with experience of coding multiple specialities in an acute hospital setting? Mid Cheshire Hospital have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Coder to join our expanding team.
Post holder will be responsible for abstracting complex clinical data from a patients health record and translating into classification codes ensuring that the quality and depth of coding adheres to the national clinical coding standards set out by NHS England. Successful candidates will be supported in sitting the National Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ) with the opportunity to further progression within the department.
The Clinical Coding Services Department is dedicated to personal staff development as well as evolving the clinical coding services.
Candidates must have sat an NHS Clinical Coding Standards course for this post, however those without experience maybe consider for a Band 3 Trainee position.
Main duties of the job
- . The post holder’s key responsibility is to abstract complex clinical information from the patient’s health record on discharge and translate the medical terminology into alpha- numerical codes using the International Classification of Diseases (ICD 10) for diagnoses, and the OPCS Classification of interventions and procedures in compliance with national clinical coding standards and guidelines
- . All Clinical Coders must apply coding within the set deadlines to derive complete and accurate clinical coding to support ‘Payment by Results’, with the assistance from ACC Clinical Coders and Team Leaders, in line with departments procedure document.
The post holder will need to have the ability to identify, monitor and report data quality issues on the PCS system and in the source documents.
Take responsibility for completing own workload within the agreed Trust daily coding targets in order to achieve the required monthly coding deadlines. Be responsible for updating personal coding classifications following changes to standards, published by NHS England Terminology Classification Service
- Support and guide less experienced clinical coders.
