Job overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Service Manager to join our Radiology team at St George’s. Working alongside the Radiology management team, you will be responsible for the smooth operational delivery of imaging services across the Trust.
The postholder will provide day-to-day leadership for our administration and clerical teams, oversee performance against national standards (DM01, RTT, FDS), and support service governance, complaints, and incident management. You will manage budgets, contribute to cost improvement programmes, and ensure resources are used effectively.
This is a key role in ensuring patients receive a safe, efficient, and responsive diagnostic service. You will work closely with clinical leads, superintendent radiographers, consultants, and the wider Diagnostics management team, and will deputise for the Deputy General Manager when required.
Main duties of the job
Provide operational leadership for Radiology services, ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-focused delivery.
Line manage and support administrative and clerical teams, promoting high standards of customer care and staff development.
Monitor and manage demand, capacity, and activity to achieve national performance targets (DM01, RTT, FDS).
Oversee governance processes, including incident reporting, complaints, audits, and compliance with Trust and national standards.
Manage budgets, contribute to cost improvement programmes, and ensure effective use of resources.
Support service development and change projects in line with Trust strategy and national diagnostic priorities.
Produce accurate management information, including activity, financial, and performance reports.
Work collaboratively with clinical leads, superintendent radiographers, consultants, and external partners to deliver joined-up care.
Deputise for the Deputy General Manager as required and represent Radiology at Directorate and Trust meetings.
Work flexibly across all Trust diagnostic sites to meet service needs.

Qualifications and Education
- Degree OR equivalent professional experience and training relevant to role.
- Evidence of continued educational and professional development
