We are seeking to recruit enthusiastic Consultants who are passionate about Emergency Medicine to join our existing emergency department (ED) team of friendly colleagues with varied backgrounds and interests. This is a full-time, permanent position.

We are a dynamic department situated in a beautiful semi-rural area of the South Coast affording the benefits of town and country life. Access to transport links and good schools. We serve a diverse socio-economic population including pockets of severe deprivation and a significant seasonal uplift.

As part of the Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) development plan we are currently engaged in remodelling our service provision to include a “single front door” model, featuring an integrated Urgent Treatment Centre with an expanding workforce, including ACPs, EPs and GPs. There is considerable scope for the successful candidates to become actively involved in shaping this process.

We have benefitted from a recent team-driven redesign of our dedicated paediatric area led by our dynamic Paediatric Team. This has led to an improved service and patient experience.

We offer rota flexibility through self-rostering on HealthRota which facilitates an attractive work/life balance.

Main duties of the job

  • Performing at a high level over the full range of emergency and urgent care presentations.
  • Encouraging consultants to participate in teaching and training the junior workforce and other Allied Healthcare Professionals informally on the shop floor in regular formal teaching sessions.
  • Fostering collaborative teamworking and innovation with our senior nursing leadership.

If you have a specific area of interest please highlight on application and at interview.
