As an Apprentice you will be required to assist with the provision of a comprehensive and effective service to support the smooth and efficient running of the Service Desk. You will also be required to communicate effectively and courteously with a range of internal/external personnel and work as part of a team within the service support function delivering a high quality service on behalf of the UHB. To attend regular review meetings with the supervisor and assessor, leading to a Foundation Apprenticeship in Digital Application Support Level 2.
This post is fixed term for 18 months from start date due to apprenticeship contract.
Main duties of the job:- Supporting IT issues and requests for over 15,000 members of staff within Cardiff and Vale over many different site locations.
- Providing support on the phones and troubleshooting issues remotely or physically.
- Managing IT projects and supporting these as well as carrying out daily duties.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Person specification:- Qualifications: Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grades A-C) including Maths and English.
- Experience: Knowledge of Microsoft Packages.
- Skills & Abilities: Good Communication Skills / Ability to Work as part of a team / Customer Service Experience / Troubleshooting PCs, Laptops & Printers / Troubleshooting Software and Mobile Devices.
- Personal Attributes: Self Motivated & Enthusiastic / Passion for working in IT / Flexibility regarding shift pattern.
- Special Knowledge: Understanding of Local area networks and Wide area networks / Understanding of server technologies, such as File Sharing and User accounts / Understanding of ICT Security technologies, such as Anti-Virus and Firewalls.
