Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is one of the largest Integrated Health Boards in the UK, employing over 16,000 staff and providing over 100 specialist services. Serving a population of around 500,000 people living in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, we are focused on the health and care needs of our local population whilst also working with our partners to develop regional services.

We are pleased to offer a Band 6 opportunity within the babies, children and young people's Occupational Therapy team in Ysgol Yr Deri special school and in our community team. The role will serve a diverse range of children and young people from 0-19 years old. You will join our innovative, child and family focused team of community occupational therapists and work alongside our wide ranging OT-CYP service and the MDT to deliver meaningful, timely care.

The service has transformed care and enables access for parents and professionals to unstreamed training and workshops. This aims to empower the child/young person and those closest to them to remove barriers to occupational performance and live their best life. You will provide assessment, diagnostic formulation and active support for children and young people and work closely with the MDT to provide timely, effective and expert care. You will also provide advice, consultation, and training to parents and local partners so confidence in leadership, clinical practice and research skills will be developed within this role.

We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist with excellent communication skills to work as part of our team. If you are enthusiastic about working with children and young people and have a keenness for delivering high quality occupational therapy, this job is for you.

Main duties of the job include:

  • Working closely with the wider Occupational Therapy team, Multidisciplinary team, teachers and classroom staff, to ensure that children and young people receive a timely occupational therapy assessment and interventions.
