Job overview

There is a position in our clinical physiology team for an enthusiastic individual that is looking to build on their experiences and develop in the challenging world of paediatrics and congenital/inherited heart disease.

We are offering a band 5 progression role, performing a range of non-invasive cardiology investigations, with training provided in the cardiac catheter lab and devices in-line with band 6 competencies. Once criteria are met, a band 6 position would be offered.

This is a fantastic opportunity for career development and requires determination to take on the challenges in paediatric cardiology.

Experience working in a band 5 capacity is required; paediatric experience is not essential.

Main duties of the job

Work in all areas of non-invasive physiology covered by the arrhythmia team. This includes ECG, Holter fitting, Holter analysis, exercise testing (ETT) and cardiopulmonary exercise testing. ECG Department

· Perform ECGs, recognise and interpret abnormal rhythms

· Setup, fit and analyse Holters, event monitors and BP monitors

· Uploading of Holter/Event monitor reports to Epic with appropriate escalation

· Lead and report on all tests performed in the exercise room including: ETTs, CPETs, Ajmaline and Adrenaline protocols (NB experience in CPETs/Ajmaline and Adrenaline protocols are desirable for appointment to this role)

· Knowledge of departmental protocols including contraindications to exercise testing in paediatrics

· Be able to provide accurate interpretation of 12 lead ECGs during exercise and report on the gas data

· To demonstrate a positive attitude to the team and contribute to developments within the department

· To be responsible for the accurate inputting, archiving, and updating of all clinical data into the Cardiology Information Database (Epic)

· To contribute to maintenance of good professional working relationships and team building

· To undertake any other duties as directed by the Senior Chief/Chief Cardiac Physiologist
