The predicted salary is between 13 - 16 ÂŁ per hour.
We require an enthusiastic, hard‑working person to play a vital role in the administration of the diabetic eye screening service, part of the National Diabetic Eye Screening Programme. You will interact with the public mainly by telephone, and with GP practices and other health professionals. Experience with a high volume of telephone calls and an understanding of diabetes is advantageous.
Main duties of the job
- Maintain full knowledge of all local and national protocols and document all administrative processes.
- Ensure the Trust meets local and national performance indicators.
- Participate in a rotational plan to support the Brighton and Sussex Diabetic Eye Screening Programme administration team.
- Maintain and update the Digital Healthcare database of all diabetic patients in the Programme.
- Book appointments and ensure patients are seen within the nationally prescribed maximum waiting times.
- Register, check, amend and enter patient details on the Diabetic Register and Digital Healthcare database.
- Follow procedures in dealing with complaints.
- Keep an effective electronic record‑keeping system for all data and paperwork.
- Undertake general office duties (photocopying, faxing, date‑stamping).
- Print and collate patients’ information leaflets.
- Stay current with any computerised systems introduced and attend required training.
- Maintain and update administrative procedures and systems.
- Ensure transport is available for patient journeys and organise as necessary.
Person specification
- Minimum general education: equivalent to 5 GCSE Grade 4 (level C) or above.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in person‑facing role in healthcare, retail or hospitality.
- Experience in office environment and use of software and data.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
- Good database and spreadsheet skills, with the ability to organise and prioritise workload.
- Calm, approachable and capable of concentrating despite frequent interruptions.
