As a Patient Services Assistant, you’ll be a valued part of our ward team, helping to create a welcoming and supportive environment for our patients. Working in line with local and Trust policies, you’ll play an important role in making sure every patient receives the care and attention they need. We’re looking for someone who can bring kindness, empathy and a positive attitude to the role. You’ll help ensure our patients feel comfortable and cared for throughout their stay. In this position, you’ll carry out a range of non‑nursing duties delegated by the registered nurse or midwife. You’ll also use your own initiative within your training and competence, contributing to the smooth running of the ward. You’ll be working alongside a friendly, multi‑professional team, supporting them to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care.
Main duties of the job:
- Demonstrate a courteous, sympathetic, compassionate and helpful approach to patients, relatives and visitors always.
- Act as an ambassador promoting the corporate image of York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, to all individuals, groups and external organisations, to sustain public confidence and trust.
- Act as a positive role model for all Trust employees.
- Demonstrate a positive professional working relationship with colleagues and other members of the Trust by promoting open communication, trust and respect.

Person specification:
- Good basic education – reading and writing plus basic numeric skills.
- Willingness to complete appropriate qualifications for work related training.
- Basic understanding of infection control.
