Job overview: University Hospitals Dorset is seeking a friendly, hardworking, reliable person to support the Catering team to provide great customer service in our busy restaurants and coffee bars. Duties include serving food and drink items, operating a till, refilling of stock and general cleaning duties.

Main duties of the job: As a member of the catering team, you will be responsible for providing an efficient, high-quality service to staff, patients and visitors, operating in compliance with corporate and local policies and procedures.

Working for our organisation: UHD are investing, developing and transforming Trust services in line with the New Hospital Programme. As part of this, some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or permanently. Recruiting Managers will be happy to answer any service-specific questions at interview. If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.

Person specification:

  • Experience in a busy Catering / Retail environment
  • Specific Barista training
  • Experience in working in a customer-facing role
  • Experience of operating a till

Qualification:

  • Good standard of Education (GCSE’s Grade D or above)
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Health and Food Safety Qualifications

Other:

  • Good standard of Numeracy and Literacy
  • Good general understanding of the Catering / Retail industry
  • Able to work as part of a team and mix with other members of staff
  • Openness to change and ability to respond quickly to tasks
  • Able to work on own initiative and follow clear instructions
