We as a Trust encourage and support your progression beyond your Apprenticeship and will be here to help! We welcome applications from individuals wishing to become an Apprentice and gain experience in the NHS. You will develop new skills and knowledge whilst working with an established team gaining valuable work experience and a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

You will be enrolled with a local education provider and will be required to complete your Level 2 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship Standard qualification within the duration of the placement. We are very proud of our Apprentice success rates, with 92% of Apprentices successfully obtaining a substantive post within the Trust at the end of their Apprenticeship contract, and 98% of Apprentices having further plans in place following their Apprenticeship e.g. going on to further education, joining the NNUH staff bank or obtaining employment at another organisation.

Main duties of the job:

  • An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Radiology Department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) and Cromer District Hospital for an Apprentice Radiology Department Assistant.
  • The Radiology department sits within the Diagnostic and Clinical Support Services division and provides diagnostic imaging and therapeutic treatments across a range of specialties across the Trust.
  • The role is patient focused so being able to assist patients in all modalities is required, showing a real empathy to patients who are unwell or distressed.
  • The post holder will work with all members of the clinical team within a multi-disciplinary framework.
  • The post holder will contribute to the provision of a high standard of care for patients and to carry out some duties unaided, in accordance with Trust/Directorate policy, at the discretion of qualified staff.
  • Support and help all members of the clinical team in service delivery.

Apprenticeship Eligibility Criteria:

  • All applicants must be:
  • Aged 16+
  • Resident in the UK/EEA for the last three consecutive years
  • Must not have a qualification in a similar subject at the same level or above
  • Must not be in any form of formal government-funded education upon the start of their apprenticeship

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Good general standard of education
  • 4 GCSEs at Grade D/3 or above (or equivalent) subject to the job specification
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

Staff parking is available onsite; however, this is limited during core working hours. We have more capacity in the evening and at weekends and can usually provide spaces during those hours.

The NNUH is served by a number of public buses, and we offer generously discounted monthly passes with First Bus & Konect. The Costessey Park and Ride runs regularly each day from 06:30 to 20:45 and this service is free for NHS staff.
