Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is looking for dynamic, dedicated Band 5 Staff Nurses to join the Acute Cardiac Care Unit (ACCU) at Harefield Hospital. ACCU consists of two active cardiology wards, Oak and Acorn, comprising approximately 40 overnight beds and day-case trolleys. We care for Level 1 and Level 2 patients undergoing complex cardiac investigations and interventions, including Primary and Elective Angioplasty, Electrophysiology studies, TAVI, Ablations, and Pacemaker/Device implantations. As one of the busiest primary angioplasty services in the country, we pride ourselves on exceptional post-MI aftercare, invasive monitoring, and specialist management of heart failure and end-of-life care. Main duties of the job:
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care from patient admission through to safe discharge.
- Perform comprehensive physical assessments, monitor vital signs, and initiate tailored care plans for cardiac patients.
- Undertake complex clinical procedures, manage invasive cardiac monitoring, and administer prescribed medications, including blood and blood product transfusions.
- Advocate for your patients, ensuring their dignity, cultural beliefs, and human rights are always upheld.
- Communicate sensitive or complex clinical information clearly, maintain precise digital patient records, and participate in handovers.
- Help supervise junior staff, act as a mentor or preceptor to students and newly qualified nurses, and take management responsibility for co-ordinating shift care on the ward.
