We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join the radiotherapy team at Torbay Radiotherapy Department as an Apprentice Therapeutic Radiographer.
Radiotherapy is a vital part of cancer care, with around half of people affected by cancer needing radiotherapy as part of their treatment pathway.
This exciting apprenticeship opportunity will allow you to start a career in a highly rewarding allied health profession which combines a high standard of patient care with advanced technical skills. You will undertake on the job training alongside BSc study with the University of the West of England (UWE) over a 36-month period. The training will be academically challenging but you will be fully supported throughout to develop the required skills and knowledge.
Successful completion of the training will allow you to register as a qualified therapeutic radiographer with the HCPC.

Main duties of the job
- To undertake the Radiotherapy Radiographer Apprenticeship programme
- Work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to undertake a range of radiotherapy duties and procedures, as detailed within the apprenticeship programme
- Work under the supervision of a registered health Practitioner at all times
- Attend other radiotherapy departments to gain sufficient experience in some treatments or novel technologies where this is considered appropriate
- Attend mandatory block study weeks for the Radiotherapy Radiographer Apprenticeship programme at the University of the West of England (UWE)
TSDFT Radiotherapy service is based in Torbay Hospital and has a Canon Aquilion CT scanner, two matched VERSA Elekta Linacs, Mosaiq Oncology Management System, Pinnacle Treatment Planning System (transitioning to Eclipse) and SGRT. The service runs five days a week, 0800-20.00, with weekend and bank holiday working as the service requires.
