In this role, you’ll deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care across all areas of the department, carrying out assessments, planning and evaluating care, and responding to a wide range of clinical presentations. You’ll develop advanced clinical skills including triage, cannulation, wound care, emergency response and support with minor procedures.
You’ll work closely with patients, relatives and the multidisciplinary team, communicating clearly in a pressured environment while maintaining professionalism and compassion. You’ll uphold Trust policies, maintain accurate documentation and contribute to continuous improvement, audits and evidence‑based practice.
As a Band 5 nurse, you will also play an important part in supporting learners, new starters and HCAs—helping to create a positive learning culture while developing your own clinical and professional skills.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The postholder is responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development,
implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. The postholder will teach and
supervise post basic learners and unqualified staff. This role will act as a key worker to
allocated patients and take responsibility and accountability for a group of patients. The post
holder will be expected to work in all areas of the Emergency Department caring with a
caring for a variety of different clinical presentations.
