An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) Clinical Nurse Specialist Team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking an enthusiastic registered nurse with respiratory experience who is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to individuals living with complex respiratory conditions.

The ILD service provides specialist care and support for patients diagnosed with a range of interstitial lung diseases, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and other progressive fibrotic lung conditions. Working alongside our multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in supporting patients and their families throughout their treatment journey.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual wishing to further develop their clinical expertise within respiratory medicine while contributing to service development, education and quality improvement initiatives.

Main duties of the job

As an ILD Clinical Nurse Specialist you will:

Act as a key worker for patients with interstitial lung disease across both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Provide expert clinical advice, support and education to patients, carers and healthcare professionals.

Participate in nurse-led clinics, telephone reviews and virtual consultations.

Work closely with respiratory consultants, allied health professionals, primary care teams and external organisations to ensure seamless patient care.

Support the monitoring and management of patients receiving antifibrotic therapies and other specialist treatments.

Contribute to service development, audit, quality improvement and research activity within the ILD service.

Promote excellent patient experience and ensure care is delivered in line with national guidance and best practice standards.

Education and Qualifications

  • Current NMC Registration
  • To have completed the national practice assessor training or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
  • Attained or working towards 1st Degree in health related subject
  • Evidence of recent study
  • Non-medical prescribing V300 course
  • Education for Health or ARTP/BTS Certificate in Spirometry or equivalent
  • APACS

Experience

  • Demonstrable post registration experience
  • Demonstrable experience in relevant area of practice (respiratory medicine) or equivalent area
  • Experience of successful multiagency working
  • Effective leadership skills
  • Evidence of applying research and audit in practice
  • Experience within Palliative Care
  • Experience with managing Home Oxygen

Skills and Knowledge

  • Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, crossing professional and organisational boundaries
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Well-developed effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Computer literacy skills including knowledge of databases, power point and word processing and patient record systems
  • The maintenance of up to date knowledge of local and national developments in nursing,
  • Experience developing integrated care pathways, protocols and guidelines
  • Evidence of previous health promotion work
  • Demonstrates advanced clinical practice
