Job overview

We are seeking an experienced and inspirational Tissue Viability and Skin Integrity Nurse Consultant to provide expert clinical and professional leadership across East of England Community Health and Care NHS Trust and the wider health and care system.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide expert clinical leadership for tissue viability and skin integrity services across the Trust.
  • Influence strategic decision-making relating to wound care, pressure ulcer prevention and skin integrity.
  • Provide highly complex clinical advanced assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and evaluation.
  • Lead Trust-wide quality improvement programmes relating to tissue viability and skin integrity.
  • Develop clinical standards, policies, pathways and governance frameworks across Norfolk Adults and across East of England Community Health and Care.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day line management of Tissue Viability Specialist Nurses, Skin Integrity Clinical Leads and the Principal Podiatrist.
  • Provide specialist consultancy to clinical teams, managers and executive leaders.
  • Lead education and competency development programmes across the workforce.
  • Influence service development regionally and nationally through professional networks and research activity.
  • Support the management of a designated budget and procurement decisions relating to specialist wound care products and equipment.
  • Lead investigations of serious incidents, pressure ulcers, coroners requests and complex complaints relating to tissue viability and skin integrity care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Main Duties & Responsibilities

The post holder will:

  • Provide expert clinical leadership for tissue viability and skin integrity services across the Trust.

Person specification

Qualifications & Training

  • Educated to MSc Professional Practice (Tissue Viability) and equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.
  • Member of relevant professional body
  • Leadership and management qualification
  • Doctoral level study, or evidence of working towards

Experience

  • Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master’s level equivalent
  • Experience of advanced level practice
  • Experience of managing services and people in a health setting (NHS or other)
  • Experience of developing and implementing policies and procedures service wide
  • Understanding of audit/ research and assessing evidence
  • Understanding of audit/ research and assessing evidence
  • Experience of managing budgets and HR staffing issues
  • Evidence of leading major transformation programmes with measurable outcomes
  • Evidence of service improvements with positive patient outcomes
  • Experience of collaborating with commissioners, Integrated Care Boards and regional partners.

  • Experience of leading research, innovation or service evaluation programmes.
