Part Time - 22.5 hours [3 days] Children's Health promotion Advisor
North Team Cheshire East - Macclesfield 0-19+ Base
The Children's Health Promotion advisor works closely with the Health Visitor, to support delivery of identified packages of care, providing support and advice to service users. The role delivers a range of health promoting programmes and activities for inclusion in a variety of settings including: mental well-being, physical activity, stop smoking support, oral health, food and nutrition and lifestyle/weight management. The successful candidate would facilitate groups and manage development reviews 9 month and 2 year development reviews. Support with drop in clinics.
To develop and deliver health care and health promotion as a member of the Integrated Children’s Division, using evidence-based practice and professional leadership and management. The role supports the development of best practice and facilitate shared learning to develop services and initiatives that meet local needs, in relation to aims and objectives of Wirral Community NHS Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
The CHPA role works closely with the Health Visiting team.
Works across Cheshire East supporting delivery of the Healthy Child Programme 0-19.
Manages a delegated active caseload, working as a member of a skill mixed team, responsible for interacting constructively with team members and organising, prioritising and planning their work. This includes, arranging visits and supporting delivery of universal services and additional packages of care.
Facilitation and delivery of clinics and group sessions as required, including evenings based on service need. Undertakes Healthy Child reviews/contacts and promotes uptake of immunisation as per Trust and professional guidelines.
Manage developmental review clinics and make referrals to appropriate services
Support with the drop in clinics again referring or offering support from the wider team.
Support Children with SEND and their families ensuring referrals are made and work with other professionals and agencies to ensure families are supported.
Work closely with the Family hubs and nurseries.

Qualifications and professional training
- NNEB/NVQ Level 3 in Child Care/Public Health
- Brief Intervention/Motivational Interviewing trained
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Health and Social Care Foundation Degree

- Substantial experience in a health related post
- Experience of working with children and young people
- Experience of working in the community
- Experience of integrated working and liaising with other agencies
- Awareness of local health priorities
