Job overview
We are looking for 5 Consultant Neurologist to work across Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (60%), and Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust (40%).
In September 2022 the West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYAAT) established a transformation programme for neurology services across our region. This is an exciting time to be part of a multi-professional team delivering innovative and transformative services as part of the West Yorkshire Neurology Network (WYNN), with a vision to deliver services that are Sustainable, Equitable & Outstanding for our population. This role will contribute to the change programme, and pathways of care through new and innovative ways of working and may be required to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering care across the network.
Main duties of the job
- Supervision of patients
- Contribute to Specialist Multi-disciplinary team meetings.
- The provision of an epilepsy and general neurology outpatient service and contribute to the inpatient service.
- The delivery of urgent neurology pathways such as the first fit pathway.
- Contribution to the further development of the regional neuroscience centre including provision of a specialist service.
- To contribute to research, teaching, and new developments within the CSU. The post holder will be encouraged to facilitate and contribute to the current clinical research programs on going in the department.
- To develop alliance initiatives with neighbouring Trust alliance partners.

Qualifications
- MRCP or equivalent
- All applicants must have Specialist registration for Neurology (or within 6 months of being admitted to the register for trainees, if currently in a training programme in the UK) but consideration will be given to applicants with relevant consultant level experience or trainees in a UK training scheme who are within 6 months of attaining specialist registration.
- Applicants must be Registered with the General Medical Council and hold a Licence to Practise
Experience and Achievements
- Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of the Neurology specialty
- Also, should have significant minor Neurology procedures experience and any other post graduate qualifications that can advance the department needs would be preferable
- Understanding current issues within the wider NHS
- Attendance at a recognised management course
- Shows ability to work with and lead others across professions
Teaching and Training
- Experience of and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and non-medical staff.
- Academic achievements/evidence of familiarity with research methods which have resulted in publications
- Training in clinical and educational supervision
- Attendance at a teaching course

- Knowledge of Audit principles and evidence of participation in and completion of audit projects

- Evidence of knowledge of research methodology

- Ability to work in various locations throughout the network of services provided by Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust
- For areas requiring EPP Clearance (Exposure Prone Procedures), this will also be a requirement of the health screening

The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £54.40, Standard £26.40 or Basic £26.40) from your salary when you commence in post (including Internal staff). You will also be required to participate in the DBS Update Service and pay the £16 cost per year. This is a condition of your employment.
