Job overview
We are looking for a dynamic, innovative, self-motivated individual to join our clinical pharmacy team as an Advanced Pharmacist - Women and Children. This is fixed term 12 month post to cover maternity leave. You will provide a clinical pharmacy service to our womens and childrens wards. Therefore significant recent and relevant experience of providing a clinical pharmacy service to paediatrics is expected.
You will also be responsible for providing directorate support to the women and children directorate within the Family and Specialist Services division
You will be strongly encouraged to come up with innovative ideas to improve the clinical service alongside increased medicines efficiency savings.
You will require excellent communication and leadership skills, and be comfortable collaborating with clinicians, managers, nurses and others to ensure that pharmaceutical care of ill patients with a range of clinical conditions is safe and optimised. You will also be involved in training and teaching junior members of the pharmacy team alongside the wider MDT.
Line management experience would be beneficial, as you will be involved in the sickness management, appraisal and general line management responsibilities of our team of rotational band 7 staff.
Main duties of the job
You will be registered as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council and have successfully completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice or be able to demonstrate equivalent and transferrable experience. You will also be a registered non-medical prescriber.
Training and support will be given and a commitment to continuing professional development is essential.
The role will include participation in weekend and bank holiday working.
Applicants should have knowledge of therapeutics and medicine use and experience of audit, risk management and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of staff.
This role is critical to providing a high quality clinical service to patients. The post holder will need to be flexible and organised, be able to align their values with those of the organisation, have the ability to delegate effectively and to work as part of a team with a 'can do' positive attitude.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Support the Head of Clinical Pharmacy Services in setting the strategic direction for the Clinical Pharmacy Service
- Contribute to the development of the annual business plan and strategic planning for the Pharmacy Directorate
- Implement Trust policies in relation to the Clinical Pharmacy Service
- Continually review the quality and standard of service provision through consultation with users of the Clinical Pharmacy Service and makes recommendations for improvement to the Deputy Clinical Director of Pharmacy
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of policies, procedures and records for the Clinical Pharmacy Service and medicines management
- Assists Directorates and specialties in controlling drug expenditure
- Ensure the appropriate stock control and storage of materials and safe maintenance of equipment used in the provision of the Clinical Pharmacy services
- Complies with Trust policies relating to security and patient confidentiality and to ensure that procedures are undertaken within safe systems of work and legislation
- Participates in weekend, public holiday, out of hours and extended hours provision of pharmacy services

QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING
- MPharm or equivalent Degree in Pharmacy approved by General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Working on RPS or HEE advanced framework portfolio
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE
- Able to demonstrate significant relevant experience of clinical pharmacy practice
- Experience managing staff
- Detailed knowledge of Clinical Pharmacy, Medicines Management and Pharmacy Practice acquired through training and experience.
- Pharmacy Practice Research and Clinical Audit
- Management of drug budgets
- Significant relevant and recent experience of Paediatrics
