Are you a qualified, or soon to be qualified, Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner (MHWP) looking for a service that is committed to your ongoing professional development?

We assess and treat older adults with complex mental health needs and work within a model of co‑produced care plans and the production of therapeutic goals.

Main duties of the job

You will offer initial assessments and NICE approved treatments for older adults experiencing common mental health problems.

We are a high-performing team that are looking for MHWP to work with patients with anxiety and depression to deliver specified wellbeing-focused psychologically-informed interventions including:

  • Behavioural activation and graded exposure
  • Teaching problem‑solving skills
  • Improving sleep
  • Recognising and managing emotions
  • Building confidence

You’ll be provided with a clear and suitable work plan enabling you to demonstrate that you are meeting the standards expected for each intervention.

We offer robust and supportive supervision from skilled supervisors and managers, with the opportunity to learn to become a case management supervisor yourself. We are committed to providing ongoing, high quality Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and in addition in‑house training.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Staff wellbeing is a top priority - We have a very active wellbeing team and take a pride in our supportive, collaborative, and productive culture.

The Trust hosts the Oxford Institute of Clinical Psychology Training and Research and the Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre.

Our main office is centrally located within the Saffron House Hub at High Wycombe, and willingness to travel for work purposes is essential.

Qualified MHWP are expected to comply with the national requirement for MHWP registration with the British Psychological Society (BPS) or the British Association of Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). Registration must be maintained annually, at the practitioner’s expense. Please ensure you complete the section within this application form asking for your PIN. If you are awaiting confirmation of registration, please provide evidence of your submission for registration. Successful candidates who have not completed the approval process will be required to practice at a training grade (Band 4), and will be paid accordingly, until such time as the registration is confirmed. We expect our staff to share and demonstrate our values and be caring, safe and excellent in everything we do, constantly striving to improve the quality of care we provide and the experience that patients can expect.

The ability to travel independently between sites within the Trust is essential for this role

Qualifications

  • Graduate certificate (L6) or postgraduate certificate (L7) delivering the national curriculum for Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioners
  • PWP Registration (or evidence of application submission) with the British Psychological Society (BPS) or the British Association of Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)

Experience

  • Evidence of working with adults aged 18 years and over who have experienced a mental health problems
  • Experience of working effectively in a team
  • Experience of working in Primary Care Mental Health Services
  • Experience of delivering wellbeing-focused psychologically-informed interventions,

Skills

  • Ability to manage own caseload and time
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including telephone skills
  • Ability to be self-reflective, whilst working with service users, in own personal and professional development and in supervision
