This is a substantive consultant post to join a team of twenty other Consultants in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. The appointee will contribute to the general obstetrics and gynaecology. In addition, they are expected to develop a gynaecology service that meets the need of women ensuring seamless pathways offering one-stop care. They will be working with a multidisciplinary team and creating regional links. The post holder will contribute to obstetrics 98-hours consultant presence on labour ward and general obstetric commitments. This is a new post, established to address the growing needs of the department and the preferred candidate would have skills that complement those of the existing consultant body.

The post holder will work within the multi–disciplinary team providing, and further developing care of patients in the trust. In addition, the individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the department while having a significant commitment to supporting the early pregnancy unit. The remit of the postholder will be to contribute to benign gynaecology service. Qualifications

  • Membership of the Royal College of obstetricians and gynaecologist or equivalent
  • Name on Specialist Register on date of appointment
  • SITM or ATSM in benign gynaecology
  • SITM/ATSM in Early pregnancy and acute gynaecology
  • Full GMC registration
  • Higher degree (MD or equivalent)
  • Accreditation in scanning
  • Accreditation in hysteroscopy or equivalent
  • SITM/ATSM in Labour Ward Practice or equivalent

Experience

  • Experience in early pregnancy and acute gynaecology
  • Manage benign gynaecology conditions
  • Manage high risk obstetric patients
  • Experience in gynaecology surgery (open and laparoscopic)
