Job overview
We are proud to announce an opportunity to join the largest paediatric oncology, haematology and Bone marrow transplant fellowship program in the UK. Our program is designed to cater to the needs of paediatric specialists with a minimum of 12 months experience in haematology and/or oncology, who are looking to expand their knowledge, hone their skills, and become experts within the field.
Our program offers a comprehensive curriculum with expert mentorship from our esteemed faculty, providing experience that prepares you for a fulfilling career in paediatric oncology, haematology and/or bone marrow transplantation. Our fellowship program is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children suffering from cancer. At the end of the program our fellows will possess a well-rounded and in-depth understanding of the latest advances in oncology and haematology. They will also be equipped with the skills to provide care of patients undergoing bone marrow transplants and understand their conditioning, choice of donor and managing complication from treatment.
Our program offers a unique blend of hands-on clinical training, research opportunities and interactive learning experiences. Our faculty is dedicated, compassionate, and committed to providing the highest level of care to our patients.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will be given broad training in the care of children with leukaemia, solid tumours and BMT both in the outpatient and inpatient setting and will be responsible for their day-to-day management. The appointee will work as part of a team with the other junior and middle grade doctors to provide daytime cover (team of 24 junior and middle grade doctors). The appointee will gain experience in various clinical settings i.e. inpatient Haematology, inpatient oncology, daycare/outpatients and inpatient BMT (including CAR-T cell therapy).
Training and supervision will be given in all aspects of the work as required, including the prescribing, handling and administration of chemotherapy including intrathecal chemotherapy, practical procedures such as bone marrow aspiration and trephine biopsy, and MDT participation. Within six months it is expected that the appointee will have achieved core competencies in the care of children with malignant disease, and the level of responsibility assigned to the fellow thereafter will reflect their level of prior experience in paediatric haematology/oncology/BMT and personal development plan.
