Are you an allied health professional with experience and passion for supporting patients with chronic MSK pain conditions?

We are looking for dynamic and proactive Senior Musculoskeletal (MSK) Clinician to join our well-established Sussex MSK Pain service in Brighton and Worthing. We provide treatments 1:1 and in group settings alongside our excellent Psychology colleagues and work closely with our MSK colleagues across Sussex MSK Health and partner organisations. Roles available across the whole of West Sussex, Brighton and Hove, inclusive of full and part-time/ fixed term/ secondment/ job share opportunities. Sites include Worthing/Brighton/ Hove/ Haywards Heath/ Crawley/ Horsham/ Bognor Regis.

Main duties of the job

You must be a UK registered Allied Health Professional to apply, with a broad range of musculoskeletal experience inclusive of experience in Chronic pain management. Recent senior clinical level experience, personalised care and motivational interview training as well as experience of leading groups would be advantageous. Applicants should be committed to delivering high quality care and have excellent communications skills. You will be required to work in clinical sites from Brighton to Worthing.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To contribute to the provision of an efficient and effective pain service within Sussex MSK Health.
  • To work autonomously as a clinical specialist practitioner, using advanced clinical skills, to assess, diagnose, treat and manage patients with musculoskeletal conditions, with access to investigations under Advanced Practitioner supervision.
  • To support patients who may have co‑existing diverse medical, neurological and complex physical and psychological conditions alongside their musculoskeletal presentation.
  • To maintain own records and work as an autonomous practitioner.
  • To deliver pain management programmes alongside our psychology team.

Person specification

Qualification

  • Degree in Physiotherapy/ osteopathy/ OT/ podiatry
  • HCPC/General Osteopathic Council Registration
  • Member of the British Pain Society or equivalent professional membership associated with profession

Experience

  • Extensive experience within the NHS or equivalent.
  • Up to date professional development portfolio inclusive of specialist pain development.
  • Evidence of relevant post graduate courses/CPD and reflective practice
  • Experience of supervising staff and students.
  • Involvement in carrying out clinical audit including the co‑ordination and evaluation of, and the use of findings to make service developments.
  • Proven understanding of clinical governance with risk management, its importance and an awareness of how it is carried out.
  • Working knowledge of a wide range of assessment and treatment approaches in the management of patients with Chronic pain and Neuromusculoskeletal pathology, demonstrated by advanced clinical reasoning.
  • Experience of MDT working in respect to supporting patients with chronic pain conditions
  • Personalised care and motivational interviewing training

Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience at Clinical specialist level.
  • Excellent knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology in relation to chronic pain.
  • Skilled in assessment and treatment tools.
  • Highly developed and up to date clinical reasoning skills.
  • Highly advanced manual handling skills and treatment techniques.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with patients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Experience in communicating sensitive and complex information to clients, relatives and carers using advanced communication skills.
  • Extensive experience of working clinically in MSK with exposure to and development in pain services
  • Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate workload efficiently.
  • Committed to personal and team development
