Come and join us

We’re looking for people who share our values of compassion, accountability and optimism to help us provide high quality care for the patients, carers, families and communities we serve. We specialise in NHS mental health and learning disability services and we’re proud to make a difference every day.

At SPFT we put people first. We’ll do everything possible to help you feel respected, valued and included. You’ll have opportunities to learn, grow and gain new experiences to support your career, with access to lifelong learning and professional development.

We actively promote flexible working and understand how important work life balance is, especially in healthcare. Whether it’s part time hours, hybrid working or flexible start and finish times, we’ll explore what works for you and the role.

We recognise that tools like AI are becoming part of everyday life and you may choose to use them when preparing your application. We welcome this, as long as what you submit reflects your own experience, skills and voice. AI can be helpful for structuring or refining your answers, but it should not replace your own examples or create content that isn’t based on your real experience.

Our recruitment process is designed to get to know you, and we’ll explore your examples further at interview, so it’s important your application genuinely represents what you bring. You can read more about using AI in applications and interviews on our recruitment process page .

We’re shaping a workplace where ideas are encouraged, technology supports you and everyone has a voice in how we improve. If that sounds like the kind of organisation you want to be part of, we’d love to hear from you.

Job overview

Are you a Registered Nursing Associate passionate about supporting people with severe mental illness in their recovery? Would you like to join a supportive team that values collaborative working?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nursing Associate to join the Community Rehabilitation Service (Bognor Regis Hub). You will support adults with complex psychosis, treatment-resistant psychosis and other severe mental illnesses, in line with NICE rehabilitation guidance.

Working within a multidisciplinary team under the supervision of registered nurses, you will contribute to recovery-focused interventions, physical health monitoring and assessments. Your work will help people maximise independence and achieve meaningful recovery goals.

We are seeking an enthusiastic team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build rapport and deliver compassionate, person-centred care. Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential.

Experience working with people with severe mental illness is desirable. Applications are also welcomed from those with experience supporting older adults.

The team works Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, including Bank Holidays (except Christmas Day) on a rota basis. This is a full-time, mainly office-based role when not undertaking visits. Flexible working requests will be considered in line with service needs.

Informal enquiries and visits are warmly welcomed.

Main duties of the job

As a Registered Nursing Associate, you will:

  • Build and maintain strong therapeutic relationships to promote engagement and recovery
  • Work collaboratively within the MDT while demonstrating the ability to work autonomously and exercise professional judgement under leadership of the registered nurses/ team members.
  • Contribute to robust risk assessments to support safe and effective care.
  • Contribute to the development, review and implementation of recovery‑focused care plans reflecting individual strengths, needs and goals.
  • The nursing associate must have the ability to work without direct supervision, at times delivering care and treatment independently in line with the individual’s defined plan of care, within the parameters of practice of the nursing associate role, accessing clinical and care advice when needed.
  • Work with a mentor to take responsibility for developing own clinical competence, leadership and reflective practice skills within the workplace.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Compassionate and client‑focused, with a commitment to recovery‑oriented practice
  • Highly organised, flexible and adaptable in a dynamic clinical environment
  • Skilled at building rapport and maintaining therapeutic relationships
  • Proficient in the attitudes and behaviours compatible with NHS and Trust Values along with the 6 C’s of nursing.
  • A strong team player

Working for our organisation

Our service provides inter‑professional community mental health rehabilitation for people who require more intensive support than is available through Neighbourhood Mental Health Teams. We work with individuals in their own homes, NHS sites and community settings, delivering compassionate, person‑centred care to promote recovery. Collaboration sits at the heart of the service, with strong teamwork supporting consistent and responsive care.

The Sussex Community Rehabilitation Service is delivered through locality‑based Hubs across the Trust. In West Sussex there are three Hubs, based in Bognor Regis (this post), Worthing and Horsham. The service offers both short‑ and longer‑term pathways. Short‑term pathways provide time‑limited community rehabilitation support for up to 16 weeks, while longer‑term pathways offer care coordination, typically for a minimum of three years.

Our team‑based model fosters a highly supportive environment for both the people we support and our staff.

What We Offer

  • A supportive and collaborative team, including regular supervision and reflective practice
  • Opportunities for professional development and leadership growth
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to people’s lives
  • Quarterly West Sussex CRS CPD days
  • Divisional Nursing Forums offering development and networking opportunities
