Job overview

The post holder will be expected to work multi professionally, support other team member’s roles and contribute to the future development of the service. post holder will respond to calls throughout Birmingham meeting UCR targets.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior nurse you will be able to demonstrate good leadership skills, the ability to manage change in clinical practice and processes. You will also be able to demonstrate the ability to independently make sound clinical and leadership judgments and regularly supervise the workload of junior colleagues.

We are looking for people who are innovative, forward thinking, flexible and have strong leadership qualities. The candidate will have both clinical and operational responsibilities and an element of the role will be triaging and co-coordinating the shift. You must be able to confidently triage and priorities referrals and delegate to junior members of staff.

Qualifications/ Experience required:
Registered General Nurse with extensive community experience and be fully competent with end of life care/ stat doses and syringe driver care. Also be fully competent in catheterisation of both male and female catherisation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated nurses to join our teams; we provide integrated care to patients throughout Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust so the ideal candidate must be highly mobile and are able to travel throughout the City’s Boundaries.

The ideal candidates must be a good communicator, team player and have sound clinical knowledge being able to work independently and as part of a team. You must be flexible and a good problem solver as you will be responding to urgent calls overnight. Car driver is essential.

Qualifications Training

  • Registered Nurse Level 1 (Adult)
  • Evidence of continued professional development relevant to role
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team setting
  • Mentor and assessor qualification or equivalent
  • V150 Nurse Prescriber

Skills/knowledge

  • Ability to demonstrate sound knowledge and application of up to date evidence based clinical practice.
  • Excellent communication Analytical skills and a problem solving approach IT literate
  • Awareness of the complex needs of a multicultural, socially diverse population.
  • Leadership and interpersonal qualities.
  • experience of community working
  • Excellent organisational/ prioritisation skills and the ability to meet deadlines, often working with sensitive or contentious information within varying environments.

Other job requirements

  • Needs to be independently mobile through out the organisation. This post is assessed as require a Car driver
  • Willing to work flexible hours including weekends and Bank Holidays as part of a rota.

DBS Costs

Please be aware that all new employees starting work with the Trust will be charged for the cost of their DBS check if it is required for the role. The cost will be deducted from your salary in 3 payments over a 3-month period once you start employment. By applying for this role, you are agreeing to these deductions being made. The charges for the DBS include the administration fee. The total costs are £26.40 for a standard check and £54.40 for an enhanced check. The level of check will be determined by the post you are applying for. For bank Workers the full cost of the DBS check (as detailed above) will be deducted from your pay following completion of your online mandatory training. No payment will be made for your online training until it is all complete and verified by the Temporary Staffing Team. Please note: You will not be able to work any bank shifts until you have completed your mandatory training, and your DBS is in place.
