Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a reliable, enthusiastic, and motivated individual to join our dynamic Pulmonary Physiology, Sleep and Ventilation Department, based in the prestigious Cardio-Thoracic Centre (CTC) at Basildon Hospital.

We are looking for a dedicated team player with excellent communication skills, a strong eye for detail, and the ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment. In this role, you will be keen to learn and vital to our innovative team, helping to deliver a comprehensive range of cutting-edge diagnostic tests and contributing directly to our expanding Respiratory, Sleep and Ventilation services.

Main duties of the job

  • Perform a range of basic diagnostic tests and provide essential technical support to senior colleagues across all hospital environments, including acute areas caring for critically ill patients.
  • The successful candidate will actively engage with the team to develop their skills until full in-house competency is achieved.
  • On non-clinical days, you will play a vital role in supporting departmental management by assisting with housekeeping, stock control, and general service maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Numeracy and literacy to GCSE standard
  • Spirometry Certification

Knowledge and Experience

  • Background knowledge in Respiratory and/or Sleep Medicine
  • Experience of being in a demanding environment with changing priorities.
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting
