What You’ll Be Working On

At TransferRoom, we are transforming how football clubs and agents use data to make better decisions.

Role

We are hiring an Account Director to drive the commercial growth of our data products across global football markets. This is a hybrid role spanning new business, account expansion, and strategic relationship management. This is not a traditional sales position. We are looking for someone who combines:

  • Deep football domain expertise (ideally as a former data analyst within a club)
  • Commercial experience within sports tech or data businesses
  • The ability to generate demand and close deals without relying on brand recognition

You will own revenue generation in your market, build trusted relationships across clubs and agents, and play a key role in shaping our go‑to‑market approach for data.

What you’ll be doing

  • New Business Development
    • Proactively identify, target, and win new business with football clubs and other potential customers for our data solutions
    • Lead outbound efforts, leveraging your network and market knowledge to generate opportunities
    • Own the full sales cycle from prospecting through to close
  • Strategic Account Management
    • Manage and grow a portfolio of key accounts across clubs and agencies
    • Identify and execute on upsell, cross‑sell, and expansion opportunities
    • Build long‑term, trusted partnerships with both technical users and decision‑makers
  • Consultative & Technical Selling
    • Understand client workflows, technical requirements, and data challenges
    • Deliver tailored pitches, product demos, and Proof of Concepts (PoCs)
    • Translate complex data capabilities into clear commercial value for stakeholders
  • Commercial Ownership & Deal Execution
    • Lead contract negotiations and close deals to meet and exceed revenue targets
    • Accurately forecast pipeline and revenue using HubSpot
    • Maintain strong discipline across pipeline management and sales activity
  • Stakeholder & Network Development
    • Build relationships with key stakeholders including:
    • Data analysts
    • Heads of recruitment
    • Sporting directors
    • CFOs and senior decision‑makers
  • Leverage your network to unlock new opportunities and partnerships
  • Cross‑functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with Customer Success, Product, and Marketing teams
    • Provide market feedback to inform product development and positioning
    • Support onboarding and long‑term client success

What Makes This Role Different

  • You will create demand, not inherit it
  • You will sell data‑driven insight and workflow, not just software
  • You will operate in a high‑trust, relationship‑driven football ecosystem

You Will Engage Both

  • Technical users (analysts)
  • Commercial decision‑makers

You Should Apply If You Have

  • Experience in a sports tech, data, or high‑growth startup environment
  • Proven track record in:
    • New business development
    • Account growth and expansion
  • Background in a data analyst role within a football club (strongly preferred)
  • Experience in a commercial role (Sales, Account Management, Solutions, or CS with revenue ownership)
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Generate leads independently (outbound + network‑driven)
    • Sell in low‑brand or emerging product environments
  • Strong existing network across:
    • Football clubs
    • Analysts
    • Agents

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven success pitching and closing deals at CxO / senior stakeholder level
  • Strong consultative and technical selling capability
  • Ability to bridge the gap between data and commercial value
  • Highly proactive, self‑starting, and comfortable operating in ambiguity
  • Experience using CRM tools (e.g. HubSpot) for pipeline and performance management
  • Full driver’s license and willingness to travel (~50%)

Not ticking every box? That’s okay! Research shows that underrepresented groups often self‑select out of applying unless they meet every single requirement. If this role excites you, we’d love to hear from you — even if you’re still growing into some of these skills.
