Responsibilities
- Safely transport students to and from school, ensuring a reliable and positive experience.
- Prioritize student safety during boarding, transit, and exiting the vehicle.
- Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip inspections to maintain the bus in safe operating condition and keep it clean and sanitary.
- Accurately complete daily Hours of Service reports and maintain required documentation per company and regulatory standards.
- Immediately report any mechanical issues or concerns affecting vehicle safety.
- Address and report any student behaviour issues in a timely and professional manner, following company procedures.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with safety practices, policies, and regulations.
- Demonstrate professionalism, patience, and care while fostering a safe and respectful environment for all passengers.
Qualifications
- Valid full G class driver's licence for at least one year.
- Age 21 or older.
- Clean driving record.
- Clean criminal record with vulnerable sector screening.
- Sound knowledge of Kingston and surrounding areas.
- Ability to work independently.
- Availability for required shifts: Monday-Friday, approximately 6:00am to 9:15am and 1:00pm to 4:30pm (start and end times may vary by route).
- Strong communication skills.
- Enjoy working with children of all ages.
- Comfortable driving in all weather and road conditions and in large vehicles.
- Basic computer skills; can navigate Google Maps or a GPS unit.
Route Details
- Part-Time Drivers: Assigned dedicated routes from September through June, offering a stable split-shift schedule with flexibility.
- Route Support Drivers: Provide coverage for temporary vacancies or busy periods; hours range from 12 to 25 per week with opportunities for additional hours on special assignments.
Compensation
- $23.00 per hour for all hours worked, including driving, admin time, meetings, orientation, and pre/post-trip inspections.
