Baltic Recruitment are delighted to be supporting our global manufacturing client, serving the oil, natural gas, industrial, and renewable energy industries with their search for a Mechanical Assembly Fitter.

Overall Purpose

This role involves assembling test equipment and conducting testing on in-house mechanical, hydraulic and electrical/electronic components, sub-assemblies and PCBs in accordance with predefined procedures and will also conduct hyperbaric testing of external client's equipment.

Key Duties

  • Assembly of hydraulic / mechanical test equipment.
  • Mechanical assembly of submersible products consisting of structural components, pumps, motors, valves, manifolds, manipulators, specialist external equipment etc.
  • To perform pressure & electrical/optical function testing of cables, connectors and PCBs.
  • Perform a variety of tests including external/internal hydrostatic, static/dynamic weight, buoyancy and electrical function testing of PCBs during hydrostatic pressure test.
  • Accurately and efficiently complete all documentation associated with client/in house testing.
  • Complete all required QHSE documentation including Risk Assessments, NCR etc.
  • Carry out maintenance to test equipment as assigned.
  • Carry out job tasks safely using good working practice.
  • Ensure good housekeeping and any other duties as assigned.
  • Initial set-up and testing of pumps and valves, testing and functional testing of complete hydraulic systems.
  • Ensure completion of testing as scheduled and budgeted; and maintain high standards of quality.

Key Requirements

  • Shop floor/apprentice (vocational) background preferred.
  • Must be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and sketches.
  • Previous experience in assembly of hydraulic systems or similar hands-on background.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and with some electrical experience.
  • Must be able to generate electronic Test Reports using MS Word in a time-efficient manner and be proficient in the use of other Microsoft programs.
  • Must be competent in the use of standard workshop tools and hydraulic test equipment, as well as being able to learn how to use more specialist equipment.

The Package

  • £33,000 per annum.
  • 37 hours per week - 8.30am to 4.30pm Mon-Thurs and 8.30am to 4pm Friday (flexi-time is available).
  • 25 days holidays and 8 bank holidays.
  • 5% salary sacrifice pension.
  • Private healthcare.
  • 2 x base salary life insurance.
