A major UK & International freight forwarding company are looking to add a Road Freight Import or Export clerk to their rapidly expanding road freight, Cross trade team. The ideal candidate must have some road freight experience either Import or Export.
ROLE: Road Freight - Import or Export
LOCATION:
HOURS: Monday to Friday: 0800 am to 4:30pm or 08:30am to 5:00pm
- Plan, book, and manage road freight transport for inbound and outbound shipments.
- Liaise with haulage companies and freight forwarders to negotiate rates and delivery schedules.
- Monitor shipments and proactively resolve delivery delays or transport issues.
- Ensure all transport documentation is accurate and compliant (CMRs, delivery notes, consignment notes, import/export documents).
- Track transport costs and support cost control initiatives.
- Provide transport partners with precise collection and delivery instructions.
- Monitor and report on KPI performance to ensure operational targets are met.
- Be willing to participate in an on-call weekend rota to support operational continuity.
- Carry out general ad hoc duties to support the wider Operations team.
- Act as a key point of contact between suppliers, transport providers, warehouses, and internal teams.
- Escalate risks to service levels or supply continuity when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, transport regulations, and health & safety standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve logistics efficiency and purchasing processes.
- Strong understanding of road freight operations and logistics processes including customs.
- Experience with purchase order systems and ERP software.
- Previous experience in logistics, transport coordination, or supply chain operations.
- Familiarity with UK and EMAT road transport regulations and customs (desirable).
