A major UK & International freight Forwarding, transport & logistics organisation is looking for a bright, intelligent, hard working, IT literate person who is passionate about securing a long term career in the transport sector, to be trained to become a Distribution / Transport Planner. The ideal candidate will have some knowledge or experience in distribution, transport or logistics, be a fast learner and also possess excellent geographical knowledge of the south of the UK, from Reading across to Essex, Kent and down to Southampton and Hampshire.

ROLE: Trainee Transport / Distribution Planner

LOCATION: Essex

BASIC SALARY: £25k to £35k

HOURS: Monday to Friday 13:00 to 22:00 (30 Minute lunch break)

BENEFITS: Pension, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, life assurance.

We are looking to recruit a trainee to work within our busy transport & distribution Operation. You will be trained to route plan 30-40 multi drop vehicles. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a Company committed to providing quality, innovative value, and logistics services. The successful candidate must be self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook.

You will be trained to carry out the following tasks:

  • Communicating efficiently and effectively with internal and external Customers, Drivers, Suppliers, and other Hubs.
  • Any reports/KPI's required.
  • Producing a month end financial and service result.
  • Working with internal colleagues to provide the best service possible.
  • Liaising with and maintaining an excellent working relationship with inhouse 3rd party transport provider.
  • Following and enforcing all company policies and procedures.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Previous experience in any transport, distribution, road freight or logistics role.
  • A real passion for forging a career in the sector.
  • Must have excellent IT and systems knowledge as we are using two systems at present, an internal system and Cargowise. Someone who can pick systems up quickly and enjoys solving puzzles.
  • Excellent geographical knowledge of the south from Reading East to Essex, Kent, down to Hampshire, Sussex, etc.
  • Effective communication skills.
