A major UK & International freight forwarding, transport & logistics organisation is looking to add an experienced Distribution / Transport Planner to their team. The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a high-paced, high-volume domestic transport planning department, responsible for the route allocation of 30-40 multi-drop vehicles, working closely with the 3rd party transport provider. You will plan and allocate deliveries and collections and have excellent knowledge of planning IT and systems such as Cargowise. Additionally, you should possess excellent geographical knowledge of the south of the UK, from Reading across to Essex, Kent, and down to Southampton and Hampshire.
ROLE: Transport / Distribution Planner
LOCATION: Essex
BASIC SALARY: £35k to £40k
HOURS: Monday to Friday 13:00 to 22:00 (30 Minute lunch break)

You will be required to communicate efficiently and effectively with internal and external customers, drivers, suppliers, and other hubs. Responsibilities include:
- Producing month-end financial and service results.
- Working with internal colleagues to provide the best service possible.
- Liaising with and maintaining an excellent working relationship with in-house 3rd party transport providers.
- Following and enforcing all company policies and procedures.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Previous experience in a similar Transport/Distribution Planning role.
- An excellent understanding of domestic HGV driving legislation and load capacity for 7.5, 12 & 18 tonne vehicles, standard & euro pallets.
- Must have excellent IT and systems knowledge as we are using two systems at present, an internal system and Cargowise.
- Ability to pick systems up quickly and enjoy solving puzzles.
- Experience in a high-volume environment, handling between 700 and 1000 planning jobs per day, with 60 to 80 vehicles.
- Excellent geographical knowledge of the south from Reading East to Essex, Kent, down to Hampshire, Sussex, etc.
- Effective communication skills.
