A major UK & International freight forwarding company is looking for a road freight business development manager to sell the company's international road freight services. The ideal candidate will have three plus years selling road freight services.
ROLE: Identify and secure new business from new and existing customers. Create a strategy with the Branch Manager and the Regional Sales Manager to successfully identify new business opportunities. Build relationships with new clients, understanding their needs and provide proposals to address them. Maintain and develop relationships with current clients. Create and maintain a sales pipeline and actively work towards it. Develop close working relationships and understanding with the operational team.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Good communicator with colleagues, customers and suppliers alike. Works equally as well alone as within a team. Self-motivated. Reasonably good understanding of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience and ability to work to deadlines. Minimum of 3 years experience in European road-freight and the freight forwarding industry. Comfortable with cold calling. Works well under pressure and to targets and deadlines. Good relationship building skills, externally and internally. Good at analysing the markets and identifying opportunities. Understanding of post-BREXIT customs requirements.
