We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager to join our mixed local and remote team. You will lead a team of software engineers in a highly collaborative engineering environment. The ability to collaborate with other Transcard teams to help achieve company goals, while keeping our clients satisfied and engaged with our products and services long-term, is a key component of this position. We are looking for passionate and energetic leaders who can manage our development efforts while delivering high quality products.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of software engineers in a high-volume, secure application environment, ensuring consistent delivery and performance.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment, bringing a passion for software engineering and continuous improvement.
- Prioritize mentorship, coaching, and team development, maintaining a leadership style that encourages autonomy over micromanagement.
- Balance strategic roadmap execution with team-driven initiatives by actively collaborating with stakeholders, product teams, and project managers.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including non-IT staff and customers, ensuring alignment and clarity.
- Onboard new engineers quickly and foster an environment where all team members are productive and empowered to grow.
- Guide the team in leveraging Azure cloud-native technologies, while being proficient in C# and SQL Server development and architecture.
- Demonstrate hands-on leadership by actively participating in coding, architecture discussions, and the development of key components.
- Follow our Software Development Lifecycle.
- Assist in defining application development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation.
- Assist software engineers, the IT Operations team, and business teams in resolving problems with application systems.
- Promote a transparent and proactive environment while advocating for truthfulness in both technical decisions and process adherence.
- Self-motivated, with a proven ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor engineers at different career stages.
- On-call availability on a rotating schedule with other IT personnel.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of professional development experience using .NET technologies.
- Must be proficient in utilizing AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or OpenAi tools.
- Previous experience leading a team of software engineers.
- Expert-level proficiency in the following languages and tools: .NET, C#, SQL Server.
- Solid and deep understanding of the following languages and tools: .NET, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Azure.
- Extensive experience in designing enterprise high volume transactions deployed to a Cloud environment (Azure / AWS / Cloud).
- We are a distributed team; as such, the ability to make yourself clearly understood both in writing and verbally is critical.
Desired Qualifications:
- Prior experience in the financial services industry.
- Experience in a high-performance SaaS (Software as a Service) application environment.
- REST API experience.
- SANS or other formal security training.
- Direct experience using Microsoft Azure.
- Experience building data integration solutions.
Education And/or Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
