Responsibilities
- Execute Fixed Income and High Yield credit trades in line with fund manager instructions, ensuring best execution across price, liquidity, speed and settlement considerations.
- Sourcing and accessing liquidity across multiple counterparties and trading venues, with particular expertise in credit markets.
- Exercise sound judgement in volatile or constrained market conditions, advising on optimal execution strategies, trade timing and order structuring.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of High Yield bond markets, credit structures, covenant features, capital structures and secondary market dynamics.
- Act as a subject matter expert on credit market conditions, flows and technicals, proactively sharing insights with Fixed Income investment teams.
- Receive, manage and accurately process orders via the Order Management System, ensuring timely updates on execution status, amendments or cancellations.
- Operate fully within MiFID, SMCR (Certified Person), best execution and market conduct requirements applicable to Fixed Income dealing activity.
- Identify, escalate and manage execution risks, liquidity risks or market conduct concerns, ensuring appropriate governance and documentation.
- Build strong, professional relationships with Investment Managers, Risk, Compliance, Operations and external broker counterparties.
- Support system enhancements, process reviews and regulatory change initiatives impacting Fixed Income execution.
Qualifications
- Strong technical understanding of Fixed Income instruments, with particular depth in credit markets (including High Yield and less liquid credit), bond structures, liquidity characteristics and secondary market behaviour.
- Proven ability to deliver best execution across a range of market conditions, including illiquid, volatile or stressed credit markets.
- In depth knowledge of market mechanics, pricing, spreads and trading conventions relevant to credit markets.
- High competence in the use of Order Management Systems (OMS) and associated trading, confirmation and reporting controls.
- Significant experience in an Investment Dealing / Trading role within Fixed Income credit markets, with demonstrable exposure to High Yield execution.
- Experience working closely with Investment Managers to advise on trade timing, execution approach and liquidity considerations, particularly for complex or size constrained orders.
- Experience operating within a highly regulated environment, with a strong understanding of MiFID, market conduct, best execution and internal control requirements.
- Strong judgement and decision making capability, particularly under time pressure and market stress.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain market conditions, execution considerations and outcomes clearly to investment colleagues.
- High attention to detail and control discipline, ensuring accuracy of execution, system updates and trade records.
