About the Business

An exciting opportunity to join a large, well-established services business in Birmingham as a Management Accountant. You’ll work within a supportive, high-performing finance team, gain exposure to a complex organisation and benefit from clear processes. Main Duties:

  • Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts for UK business units, ensuring timely P&L reviews in partnership with operational leaders.
  • Develop insightful financial commentary in collaboration with the business partnering team to support trading performance and present key findings to senior management.
  • Lead the budgeting process for allocated divisions, working closely with stakeholders to understand cost drivers, challenge assumptions, and support operational ownership of budgets.
  • Deliver profitability analysis and translate financial data into clear, actionable business insights.
  • Own balance sheet reconciliations for relevant business units, proactively identifying and communicating risks and opportunities to senior colleagues.
  • Support year-end close and external audit processes by preparing and providing accurate and timely information to audit teams.
  • Contribute to strong corporate governance and financial control frameworks, maintaining best-practice documentation for accounting processes and controls.
  • Ensure all recurring reporting requirements are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
  • Where applicable, mentor and support assistant management accountants, overseeing smaller units or sub-components and contributing to their professional development.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis to support business initiatives and informed decision-making.

Location / Office / Culture

The role is Birmingham-based with a hybrid working model of three days in the office and two from home. You’ll join a collaborative and supportive finance team that values development and knowledge sharing, within a stable, well-structured organisation offering career progression and exposure to varied work across multiple business units.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong management accounting experience with solid financial and month-end expertise.
  • Proven ability in revenue reporting, rebate accruals, and multi-unit performance analysis.
  • Highly analytical, delivering profitability insights, supplier reporting, and ad hoc analysis.
  • Confident interpreting financial data to support forecasting and commercial decision-making.
  • Collaborative communicator, adaptable to change and focused on continuous improvement.
