We are currently recruiting an exciting opportunity to join the IT team as an Integration Developer. Reporting to the IT Development Manager, this role will act as the technical bridge between our robust, internally developed core systems and modern cloud-based SaaS platforms. Working with the Development, Engineering, and Project teams, your primary focus will be to define API-driven integrations and utilise Microsoft middleware to create seamless, event-driven data flows across the business.

Role Overview

Your main area of responsibility will be to design, build, and orchestrate secure API integrations and complex data flows across disparate systems. You will manage the extraction, transformation, and routing of data working with multiple integration protocols such as REST and GraphQL to ensure reliable and efficient communication.

You will be responsible for engineering and maintaining Microsoft-centric middleware solutions using the Azure integration stack, including API Management, Logic Apps, and Azure Functions. A strong emphasis will be placed on promoting scalable, decoupled, and event-driven integration patterns, moving the organisation away from brittle point-to-point connections and towards modern, resilient architectures.

Your responsibilities will also include embedding 'Secure by Design' principles across all integration solutions and ensuring best practices are followed throughout the full lifecycle of delivery. You will also create and maintain clear, comprehensive technical documentation covering APIs, middleware processes, and end-to-end system integrations, enabling maintainability, transparency, and effective knowledge sharing across technical teams.

Person Specification

You will have a strong educational foundation in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related discipline, supported by deep technical expertise in Azure Integration Services. You will possess a broad and practical understanding of traditional and modern development technology stacks, enabling you to confidently support, maintain, and collaborate on internally developed enterprise applications.

You will demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of API consumption patterns, integration architectures, and data mapping and transformation techniques, alongside a solid grasp of modern authentication and authorisation protocols used in secure SaaS-to-SaaS and system-to-system communication. This includes practical experience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, and API key-based authentication models, as well as a strong understanding of API security best practices and threat mitigation strategies. Your approach will be analytical and objective, underpinned by strong intellect and a mature, accountable mindset when designing and implementing secure integration solutions.

The role requires proven commercial experience orchestrating API connections and designing or developing middleware to integrate complex enterprise SaaS platforms. You will have an excellent track record of translating complex business and project requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical integration solutions, remaining highly focused on delivery and task-oriented execution. Strong experience working with version control systems and associated development workflows is essential, with a preference for Git-based practices.

You will bring total integrity to the role, demonstrating accountability, objectivity, and professionalism in all interactions. Strong interpersonal and communication skills will enable you to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders alike, ensuring clarity, alignment, and successful outcomes. You will also show the ability to innovate and think creatively, applying out-of-the-box thinking to solve complex problems and continually evolve integration solutions.

Experience with the Microsoft Power Platform ecosystem, including tools such as Power Automate, Power Apps, or related services, would be highly desirable. Broader application development experience across a range of technologies, including PHP or other web languages, is also beneficial. Relevant Microsoft certifications, such as Azure Developer Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert, are advantageous and will be viewed as a strong indicator of technical depth and commitment to ongoing professional development.
