Position Overview
The Graduate Projects Engineer role is designed to support sales teams, customers, and internal stakeholders while developing the technical, commercial, and project management skills needed to become a fully competent Projects Engineer.
Through structured training, mentoring, and practical experience, the Graduate Projects Engineer will learn how to help develop and implement products and service solutions that meet customer needs.
The role will focus on building strong working relationships with sales teams, customers, and subcontractors, while gaining experience in delivering projects to a high standard within the Process Cooling and HVAC industry.
Key Responsibilities
Customer and Stakeholder Relationships
Support the procurement of equipment and subcontract works for projects under the guidance of senior team members.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with existing and potential customers, suppliers, sales teams, and other stakeholders.
- Assist with inbound and outbound communication to suppliers, sales teams, customers, and stakeholders.
- Learn to communicate technical engineering information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, showing flexibility and adaptability while helping to keep customers updated throughout each project.
- Attend site visits with Sales Engineers and stakeholders to support project reviews, gather information, and assist with costings and quotations for installation projects.
- Produce quotations for simple contracts, with training and development to support progression towards preparing quotations for larger and more complex contracts over time.
- Internal Controls and Processes
- Support project reviews and assist in finalising designs for new orders at a commercial level.
- Attend project handover meetings with customers to understand project scope, deliverables, and timeline requirements.
- Assist in producing project plans and help troubleshoot technical engineering issues with support from experienced colleagues.
- Help coordinate equipment, parts, and subcontractors to support delivery against required deadlines.
- Update the Contracts Team planner board to ensure accurate visibility of the status of each contract and quotation, enabling the wider team to track progress effectively.
- Provide day-to-day technical and administrative support to clients, sales engineers, and project teams.
- Gain experience in supporting the installation and commissioning of industrial cooling systems to ensure work is completed to the required technical and quality standards.
- Support site teams and engineers, helping to ensure contract requirements and health and safety standards are followed.
- Assist with identifying required resources and tracking responsibilities across projects.
- Support project financial control activities, including budgeting, cost tracking, and reporting.
- Assist in identifying and escalating design issues or potential project risks.
Skills and Capabilities
Degree qualified, or working towards a degree, in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- An interest in HVAC, Process Cooling, project engineering, or the wider manufacturing/engineering industry.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive and proactive mindset.
- Eagerness to learn and develop technical, commercial, and project management skills.
- Able to work independently on routine tasks while seeking guidance when needed.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CAD would be an advantage.
- Willingness to travel nationally when required.
- Right to work in the country of application.
- Full UK driving licence, or willingness to obtain one as required for the role.

This role is intended as a development pathway into a fully competent Projects Engineer position.
With training and experience, the successful candidate will develop the ability to manage project activities, coordinate stakeholders, support technical solutions, and contribute to the successful delivery of Process Cooling and HVAC projects from initial review through to installation and commissioning.
