What’s In It For You
Thermo King is looking for a Trainee Engineer to support the servicing and repair of vehicle‐powered transport refrigeration units. The role includes maintaining van stock, completing daily vehicle safety checks, managing PDA documentation, and ensuring excellent customer service. You will work closely with a Senior Engineer who will guide your technical development and support your learning through ongoing training.
What You Will Do
- Servicing and repair of vehicle powered road transport refrigeration units.
- Optimize and maintain engineer van stock to maintain and enhance service delivery to TK UK customers.
- Ensure relevant safety checks are carried out on the company van on a daily basis.
- Maintain product and customer requirements knowledge to meet ISO9002 standards at all times.
- Undertake company training and self-development through the Certi-Tech certification process.
- Liaise with central control and/or the service center regarding job start and completion times, downtime and overtime authorization.
- Complete all relevant paperwork and online (PDA) requirements enabling central control and invoicing to maintain a high standard of customer interface – keeping the customer informed.
- Perform other duties and projects which correspond to the general character of the position.
- Ensure adherence to company procedures in line with company policies, Health & safety procedures and ISO9002 standards.
- Apprentices and or engineers in training (EIT) may be supervised where applicable.
- Ensure customer service is a priority and conduct & corporate image (self, van, tools, spares) are first rate.
- Operate the company vehicle in a safe manner and carry out regular driver checks.
- Become a trusted member of the team by working with minimal day to day supervision.
- Incorporate a flexible approach to working hours to meet customers.
What you will bring
- Desirable qualifications include GCSEs in Mathematics and English, F-Gas 2079 certification, and relevant electrical or mechanical certificates.
- Ideally, a trainee-level candidate with prior engineering experience.
- F-Gas qualification is required.
- Experience with vans, automotive systems, or mobile equipment is an advantage.
- Strong focus on electrical knowledge and skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness and availability to travel daily.
