Position Overview
The Controls Technician role will support Trane UK Ltd customers within the commercial Healthcare, Process Manufacturing Facilities, Education Facilities, and Office Buildings. The primary objective will be commissioning, troubleshooting, repairing, and starting up HVAC systems. This role is an opportunity to utilize your knowledge of air conditioning theory, pipe fitting, and mechanical layouts, whilst giving you the opportunity to work with internal and external partners ranging from new facility set-ups to existing facility retrofits. Seeking 2 technicians from the North and Midlands regions of the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Commissioning, programming, and setting up graphics, communications link, end-to-end testing, troubleshooting, and servicing on assigned projects.
- Documenting point-to-point verification, sequence of operations validation and job close-out requirements.
- Representing the company as the direct customer contact responsible for servicing products and equipment on assigned projects, ensuring customer satisfaction by identifying, diagnosing, and repairing equipment and systems at customer’s location.
- Maintaining and enhancing knowledge of Trane products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of direct digital control systems.
- Using cutting-edge software and technology, along with a variety of hand-tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications, to diagnose and repair units within systems.
- Collaborating with Service Desk, Sales, and Operations Team to establish strong communication channels to share key customer insights.
- Generating regular reports on completed invoiced work orders.
- Fostering strong relationships with customers through exceptional customer service.
- Co‑ordinating with local field service representatives, regional service leaders and senior technicians, and customers on updates to drive continuous improvement.
- Enforcing safety to the highest standards and maintaining security and accountability of company-issued and procured assets.
Skills And Capabilities
- Proven experience in service or field-based technician role.
- Strong knowledge of customer service principles.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate technicians.
- Effective communication skills.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of manufacturing industry an advantage.
- Positive mindset with people and communication skills.
- Team player with ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Availability for standby and call-outs on a scheduled basis, including weekdays, weekends, bank holidays, with travel and overnight stays.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite.
- UK Driver’s licence (company vehicle allocated).
- Right to work status confirmed for country of application.
