As Finance Manager at Gymbox, you are the right hand of our Head of Finance. You support the full finance function for the UK, from monthly close and statutory reporting through to commercial business partnering. You are the bridge between UK operations in London and UGG group finance in Amsterdam. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will co-run the team, but you will also dig into the numbers yourself when it matters.

Key responsibilities

  • Financial control & reporting
    • Own the monthly close, management accounts and KPI reporting for the UK business, on time and right-first-time
    • Deliver consolidated reporting into UGG group on the group timetable
    • Produce and present monthly variance analysis against budget and forecast, with clear commentary
    • Ensuring strong balance sheet control and reconciliation on a timely basis
    • Lead the annual statutory audit and filing of UK statutory accounts
    • Ensure robust internal controls, finance policies and segregation of duties across all UK entities and sites
    • Drive continuous improvement of finance systems, reporting tools and processes; champion AI initiatives
  • Planning, budgeting & forecasting
    • Lead the annual budget process and rolling forecasts for the UK
    • Build and maintain site-level P&Ls, membership and revenue models, and labour cost models
    • Provide scenario analysis for pricing, new openings, refurbishments and M&A
  • Commercial business partnering
    • Be the trusted finance partner to the Head of Finance and the operations, marketing and people leads
    • Translate numbers into decisions: club-level performance, membership economics, payroll productivity, cost control
    • Challenge and support the operations team on margin, yield and ROI
  • Cash, treasury & tax
    • Manage UK cash flow, working capital and banking relationships
    • Own VAT, corporation tax, PAYE and other UK compliance, working with external advisors where needed
    • Manage intercompany positions and FX exposure with group treasury
  • Team
    • Support the Head of Finance in leading and development of team members

Must-haves

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with 5+ years post-qualified experience
  • Track record running the full finance function of a multi-site UK business: leisure, hospitality, retail, F&B or similar
  • Strong technical foundation in UK GAAP / FRS 102, UK tax and statutory reporting
  • Experience reporting into a group, ideally with international ownership and multi-entity consolidation
  • Commercially sharp: comfortable challenging operators, modelling unit economics and supporting investment decisions
  • Confident people leader who can build and develop a small finance team
  • Hands-on, pragmatic and comfortable with the pace of a growth business

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in fitness, hospitality or membership-based businesses
  • M&A and post-acquisition integration experience
  • Familiarity with MagicLine, NetSuite and BI tooling
