We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious tax analyst to join the team and help build on this vision and continue on the journey. In our fast-moving business, no day is the same, but your role will be to:

  • Provide exposure across the business by working with various teams to increase the visibility and profile of the tax department.

  • Stay up to date with evolving tax legislation and act proactively to ensure Trainline group meets legislative requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Group Senior Tax Manager and Head of Tax on general ad-hoc tax matters, including liaising with internal stakeholders across employment taxes, VAT and corporation tax.
  • Assist with the implementation of automation to adopt efficient process improvements and compliance obligations around Making Tax Digital, for the UK and International Markets; collaborate with external advisors on this implementation.
  • Assist with the UK corporation tax compliance process, including data collection for our compliance service provider, preparation of UK tax disclosures, and review and submission of UK tax returns.
  • Manage outsourced corporate tax compliance activities for non-UK jurisdictions.
  • Assist with forecasting, particularly relating to the group effective tax rate and tax payments.
  • Manage the tax governance platform to ensure deadlines, workflows, and task assignments are in place.
  • Input on tax governance for the group, including maintaining the CCO risk register and SAO annual process, and reviewing tax accounting controls and process notes.
  • Demonstrate strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with the wider finance team to maintain tax accruals and ensure journals and tax postings are made using Microsoft D365.
  • Complete tracking of the tax budget for external advisors.
  • Prepare the PAYE Settlement Agreements and monthly accruals.

The right candidate will be:

  • Experienced in tax (2–3 years), in industry or practice, with a strong foundation in VAT.
  • Keen to expand knowledge across all tax heads.
  • Ideally qualified or part-qualified accounting/tax professional (ACA, ACCA, CTA, etc.) with a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Microsoft Office proficient with strong analytical skills.
  • Strong communicator with interpersonal skills and a customer service focus.
  • Proactive, hands-on, able to work independently and collaborate with colleagues to achieve objectives.
  • A champion of process development and continuous improvement.
  • Willing to take on new and unfamiliar tasks with a can-do attitude.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to communicate findings clearly.
  • A team player who can collaborate with the tax and finance function and other areas of the business.
  • Confident in overcoming challenges with a positive attitude.
  • Experienced in fast-paced environments and open to new challenges.
