Overview

Join to apply for the Senior Manager Commercial Excellence role at Trainline.

As we continue to expand internationally, we’re looking for a Senior Manager, Commercial Excellence to help shape and deliver growth across our Foreign Travel business. This is a high-impact, hands-on role at the intersection of strategy, analytics, and commercial execution. You’ll work closely with Trainline’s GM UK & Foreign Travel, gaining direct exposure to strategic decision-making while driving the insight and frameworks that fuel our international growth. Based in our London office, this is a unique opportunity to influence both the why and the how of Trainline’s commercial performance.

What you’ll be doing

  • Drive commercial insight and strategy — Analyze Trainline’s revenue performance at a granular level, surface trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Conduct deep-dive customer analytics to understand behaviour drivers and quantify commercial upside.
  • Build and maintain a robust framework for market and competitor analysis, blending internal and external data to shape commercial strategy.
  • Provide regular performance updates that inform senior stakeholders and guide strategic planning.
  • Champion commercial excellence — Lead the identification and extraction of actionable insights from complex, multi-country data sets.
  • Collaborate with Country Managers, Finance, Data Science, Marketing, and Product to ensure recommendations are embedded into planning and execution.
  • Drive process improvements that enable faster, smarter commercial decision-making.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of data, strategy, and execution. You’ll bring:

  • Proven experience delivering revenue targets in a high-growth, fast-paced business (B2C eCommerce preferred).
  • Excellent analytical skills — confident in SQL and data visualisation tools (Tableau or similar).
  • The ability to connect the dots across data sources and craft a clear, compelling commercial story.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to align stakeholders and keep projects moving at pace.
  • Knowledge of and experience in a key non-UK/EU market (e.g. US, China, India, or APAC).
  • Ideally, a mix of consulting and in-house industry experience.
  • Highly organised, adaptable, and comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including public speaking.

Why join us

At Trainline, you’ll:

  • Work directly with senior leadership, shaping how we grow across international markets.
  • Influence both long-term commercial strategy and near-term performance priorities.
  • Be part of a fast-moving, collaborative environment where insights quickly translate into impact.
  • Join a mission-led company making travel simpler, smarter, and more sustainable.

If you’re a data-driven commercial leader with the drive to deliver impact across multiple markets, we’d love to hear from you.
