Introducing the Trainline Advertising Team
Every month, millions of travellers plan, book and take journeys through Trainline, creating high-intent moments that help brands connect with customers in relevant and meaningful ways. Trainline Advertising brings this opportunity to life, and we’re scaling quickly as a publisher with a growing advertising proposition.
As Advertising Operations Manager, you’ll play a hands-on role at the heart of this growth, making sure campaigns are set up accurately, delivered smoothly and optimised effectively. You’ll work closely with Account Management, Ad Sales, Product, Engineering and Data teams to keep campaigns on track, resolve issues quickly, and improve how the function scales through better processes, documentation, AI and automation.
In this role as the Advertising Operations Manager, you will:
- Build and traffic direct and managed campaigns in Google Ad Manager, including line items, creatives, targeting, key-values and tags, ensuring everything is set up accurately and on time.
- Complete thorough campaign quality assurance before launch, checking targeting, creative rendering, tracking and pacing so campaigns go live smoothly.
- Monitor live campaigns, manage pacing and delivery against plan, and proactively optimise towards campaign goals such as viewability, click-through rate and delivery.
- Investigate and resolve delivery, tracking and creative rendering issues, escalating clearly to Product or Engineering where needed and owning issues through to resolution.
- Pull, check and interpret campaign performance data, producing accurate delivery and end-of-campaign reporting for the Account Management team.
- Use AI tools, automation and continuous improvement thinking to streamline trafficking, QA, reporting and repetitive tasks, helping the function scale sustainably.
- Follow and improve operational standards, QA processes and documentation, identifying where ways of working can be clearer, faster or more reliable.
- Act as a trusted operational partner for Account Management and Ad Sales on live campaigns, translating commercial and client needs into clean, effective execution.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- Experience in ad operations, campaign management or a similar hands-on digital advertising role, with a strong understanding of how campaigns are set up, monitored and delivered.
- Hands-on experience with Google Ad Manager or a comparable ad server, including trafficking, targeting, QA and troubleshooting.
- A careful and methodical approach, with strong attention to detail and pride in delivering accurate, reliable work.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, with curiosity and persistence when working through delivery, tracking or campaign performance issues.
- Confidence working with campaign data, including pulling, checking and making sense of performance numbers.
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to work smoothly with Account Management, Ad Sales and technical teams, and to know when to escalate.
- Strong organisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple live campaigns, competing deadlines and changing priorities.
- An interest in using AI, automation and improved processes to reduce manual work and help operational teams scale effectively.
