As a Legal Counsel at Trainline you will... Reporting to Senior Legal Counsel, the Legal Counsel will support the business across a broad range of commercial, regulatory and transactional matters. This is an excellent opportunity for an early‑career lawyer to gain exposure to different elements of our B2C business, hone skills in risk‑based commercial judgment and work closely with a variety of stakeholders. At Trainline, we Think Big and this role will involve support for the growth and expansion of our business in UK and around the world. We’re looking for someone comfortable developing expertise on novel, high‑impact product initiatives, campaigns and regulatory matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts
- Provide practical legal advice and product counselling to business teams on day‑to‑day commercial issues
- Support the business on regulatory matters, working cross‑functionally to interpret and apply relevant laws and regulations
- Assist on a variety of transactions and projects, including strategic partnerships, new product launches and operational initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- Combination of private practice and in‑house experience, preferably advising on multi‑jurisdictional issues in a consumer‑facing business
- Experience structuring, drafting and negotiating a range of agreements
- Prior exposure and comfort advising on data privacy/data protection laws, preferred but not essential
- Interest in, or some exposure to, regulatory compliance and managing external stakeholders (bonus points: industry‑specific knowledge)
- Effective organisational and prioritisation skills to handle multiple matters simultaneously
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across all levels of the business
- Team player, eager to work in a dynamic and fast‑paced environment
