Introducing the Fraud & Payment Team at Trainline
The Fraud & Payment Team is a fast-evolving unit leading fraud prevention in the retail train ticketing space. We proactively analyse transaction behaviours, block fraud attempts, and retain revenue; all while safeguarding customer data and experience.
Our hybrid Edinburgh-based team blends analytical precision with strategic initiative, tackling both recurring tasks and high-impact projects. With a culture that values ownership and forward-thinking, we create space for individuals to lead and grow.
As a Fraud Review Agent at Trainline, you will…

Monitor transactional activity to identify high-risk behaviour, to progressively monitor
fraud detection algorithms, rule sets and transaction trends via built-in reports. -
Investigate suspicious transactions and escalate complex cases.

Analyse chargeback data to identify fraud trends.

Conduct open-source intelligence gathering (surface and dark web).

Collaborate with Fraud Analysts and Managers to report findings, to progressively
propose proactive fraud strategies, with the help of ML models. -
Support fraud investigations for cases escalated to our team and contribute to process
improvements. -
Educate internal teams on fraud risks and mitigation strategies.

Have experience in a fraud investigation, customer service or similar role.

Understand card-not-present fraud, account take-over and digital payment methods.

Have an analytical mindset with attention to detail, helping spot patterns and trends in
large datasets, with a strong interest for fraud systems and automation. -
Manage in high-volume transaction environments.

Showcase efficient communication (written and oral) and documentation skills.

Are curious, enthusiastic, proactive, forward-thinking and eager to learn.

Work independently and collaboratively, being comfortable with stakeholders\’

Have some knowledge or interest in SQL, built-in report tools (i.e. Tableau), and Machine Learning models, and are keen to learn it as a skill.
