This role is responsible for supporting effective risk management practices across TQUK, enabling managers and teams to identify, manage, escalate and monitor risks consistently and proportionately.
The Risk Manager is instrumental in helping the organisation understand and manage uncertainty as it grows. They will play a key role in strengthening TQUK’s approach to risk, ensuring that risks are clearly articulated, owned and actively managed to support delivery of strategic objectives.
The postholder will work collaboratively across the organisation, providing guidance, tools and challenge, while promoting a positive risk culture that supports innovation and growth within a controlled environment.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and develop TQUK’s risk management framework, including risk appetite, policies and supporting guidance.
- Support managers and teams with risk identification, assessment, mitigation and escalation.
- Own and maintain organisational risk registers, ensuring risks are clearly articulated, current and appropriately controlled.
- Embed risk management into project and change activity, supporting project risk assessments and reviews.
- Provide oversight of risk trends and emerging risks, escalating issues where appropriate.
- Support the Leadership Team and Executive with risk reporting, insight and assurance.
- Coordinate responses to audit findings related to risk management and control effectiveness.
- Promote a consistent and proportionate approach to risk management across the organisation.
- Support the development of a positive risk culture, balancing opportunity and control.
Other responsibilities
- Work closely with Audit and Compliance colleagues to ensure alignment across the ARC function.
- Keep abreast of best practice in enterprise risk management and governance.
- Maintain a strong knowledge of sector developments and TQUK products, systems and processes.
- Support training and awareness activity to build risk capability across the organisation.
- Undertake other duties considered within your skill and competence to support the effective running of the business.
Key requirements
- Experience working in risk management, governance or assurance roles.
- Practical experience supporting risk identification, assessment and reporting.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Experience working in regulated, education or complex organisational environments.
- Professional qualifications or memberships such as IRM, CII, or similar are desirable.
