As Compliance Manager, you will be the guardian of compliance, leading a team of like‑minded professionals to establish, protect and maintain the highest standards across our awarding and apprenticeship provision, ensuring ongoing compliance with multiple regulatory bodies. This role demands a detail‑oriented, audit‑trail obsessive, consistency‑focused leader who can translate strategy into action and drive cross‑team initiatives that embed compliant practice throughout the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing TQUK’s organisation‑wide compliance framework
- HUB governance arrangements
- Self‑evaluation and audit programmes
- Lessons learned and process improvements resulting from regulatory communications
- Complex or escalated operational issues
- Events, forums and special interest groups participation
- Comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements and their day‑to‑day application
- Promoting a culture of compliance by design and continuous improvement, balancing regulatory compliance with customer service
- Annual statement of compliance process, annual policy reviews and ongoing evaluation processes
- Point of contact for Ofqual regarding quality and compliance enquiries, event notifications and information requests
- Budget monitoring and resource allocation recommendations
- Interpretation of key performance indicators and management information
- Reports for the Head of Regulatory Compliance on team performance
- Briefing the Head on compliance‑related issues and regulatory landscape changes
- Oversight of appeals and open event notifications with regulators
- Policy and consultation responses coordination

- Work with the Head of Regulatory Compliance to represent the department’s views, needs, resources and risks
- Make authoritative, consistent and consequential decisions within the area of responsibility
- Model and reinforce key non‑negotiable behaviours, driving a commitment culture
- Identify implications of departmental and political priorities and strategy on own area
- Anticipate economic, social, political, environmental and technological developments to keep activity relevant
- Create policies, plans and service provision to meet TQUK needs based on up‑to‑date knowledge
- Embed an in‑depth and evolving understanding of customer requirements within TQUK
- Drive and deliver a culture emphasising continuous improvement, efficiency and value for money
- Frame all decisions within the scope of regulatory requirements
- Take responsibility for the department’s compliance, reporting, escalating, monitoring and resolving issues
- Develop, implement, maintain and review systems and service standards for quality, efficiency and value for money
- Represent Training Qualifications UK at forums and meetings where input is required
- Undertake other duties as required to assist the smooth running of the business
Key Requirements
- Experience working for an awarding organisation or in a regulatory environment in education
- Strong understanding of compliance in education and upcoming changes in regulations and policy
- Experience interpreting data to identify and respond to trends in a timely manner
- Strong people and team management skills
- Ability to self‑manage tasks and meet expected targets
- Ability to deliver within tight SLAs
- Track record of process and system improvement
