The role of a Freelance Apprenticeship Assessment Assessor is to provide independent, fair, reliable, and consistent assessment services to Training Qualifications UK customers who work with apprenticeship standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage assigned caseload to ensure all stages of the apprenticeship assessment journey are completed in a timely manner and to the expected standard.
• Deliver outstanding apprenticeship assessment services to assigned apprentices and employers.
• Undertake apprenticeship assessment activities with integrity and impartiality to provide a fair, reliable, unbiased and consistent assessment experience for all apprentices and employers.
• Produce accurate, appropriate and well-informed assessment feedback and written reports to validate assessment decisions, using the correct regulatory paperwork and appropriate systems, as required.
• Maintain an excellent working knowledge of apprenticeship standards and assessment plans relevant to the sector areas listed above.
• Engage with internal quality assurance processes, undertaking the role of Internal Quality Assurer as required.
• Actively participate in and support moderation, standardisation and development activities, and attend meetings as required.
• Support the development and delivery of training for freelance associate Apprenticeship Assessment Assessors and other external customers.
• Be responsible for maintaining your ongoing CPD relevant to assessment and internal quality assurance practices.
• Contribute to the review and development of new assessment material and learning resources.
• Develop and maintain an understanding of Training Qualifications UK’s internal policies and processes, and always adhere to them.
• Adhere to the highest possible quality standards in assessment practice.
• Proactively recognise and address any developmental actions to manage risk accordingly.
• Provide advice and responses to questions and queries regarding the specified apprenticeship standards and sectors.
• Requirement to travel.

Other Responsibilities

• Assist with complaints and/or assessment discrepancies.
• Liaise with other departments to facilitate a smooth customer experience.
• Be aware of conflicts of interest and report any associated risks.
• Engage with any Training Qualifications UK communications.
• Support the screening and/or interview of potential Apprenticeship Assessment Assessors/IQAs.
• Assist with investigations into potential malpractice.

Essential Skills / Experience / Qualifications

• Ability to assess, as a minimum, Teaching Assistant Level 3.
• Up-to-date knowledge of the regulatory framework and other regulatory and legislative requirements.
• Have a clear and up-to-date DBS check.
• Functional Skills Level 2 English and maths qualifications (or equivalent).
• Experience in assessing work-based learning.
• Sound IT and digital literacy skills.
• Experience of producing clear, accurate and concise written reports.
• Experience in organising and processing internal quality assurance practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Outstanding organisational and time-management skills.
• Evidence of up-to-date sector knowledge and relevant CPD.
• Ability to work flexibly, adapt to different environments and solve problems independently.

Desirable Skills / Experience / Qualifications

• Assessor qualification (D32/D33, A1, TAQA, or equivalent).
• Internal quality assurance qualification (D34, V1, or equivalent).
• Experience in apprenticeship assessment delivery.
