The Delivery Manager (Construction) will provide operational leadership across the Construction portfolio, ensuring effective assessment delivery, assessor workforce planning, performance management and sector engagement. The role will help maximise assessment centre utilisation, improve responsiveness to customer demand and support sustainable growth across the Construction portfolio.

This is a strategically important role designed to strengthen operational delivery, improve assessor capacity and support the continued growth of Construction assessment services. Working closely with Trade Leads, Bookings, Product, Business Development and sector stakeholders, the postholder will lead day-to-day delivery activity while supporting longer-term workforce and operational planning.

We are looking for an experienced construction professional with strong operational leadership skills, a clear understanding of assessment delivery and the ability to build effective relationships across internal teams and external sector stakeholders.


This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future delivery of Construction assessment services. The successful candidate will help strengthen national delivery, improve assessor capacity and support sustainable growth while working with committed colleagues and sector partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the operational delivery of Construction assessments nationally.
  • Monitor assessment capacity, utilisation and demand to reduce lost assessment opportunities.
  • Work closely with Bookings and operational teams to maximise assessment centre capacity.
  • Manage, support and develop Construction Trade Leads, ensuring clear accountability for operational performance.
  • Recruit, onboard and retain assessors to meet current and future delivery requirements.
  • Forecast workforce needs and support effective deployment of assessor resource.
  • Use operational data, KPIs and management information to drive continuous improvement.
  • Represent the organisation at employer forums, Expert Groups and sector stakeholder meetings.
  • Provide sector insight to support Product Development, Business Development and apprenticeship reform activity.
  • Maintain occupational competence by undertaking approximately two assessments per month in a relevant trade area.
  • Support quality assurance by completing approximately 5–10 IQA samples per month.




Essential Skills / Experience / Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of the Construction sector and relevant occupational standards.
  • Experience of managing operational delivery, workforce planning or assessment activity.
  • Experience of leading people, teams or specialist colleagues to achieve performance outcomes.
  • Ability to interpret data, monitor KPIs and use insight to improve operational performance.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a busy delivery environment.
  • Understanding of quality assurance, assessment practice and continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to high standards of customer service, compliance and operational excellence.
  • Assessor and IQA Qualifications
  • Minimum L3 Construction Vocational Qualification.


Desirable Skills / Experience / Qualifications

  • Experience of apprenticeship assessment, end-point assessment or vocational qualification delivery.
  • Experience of assessor recruitment, onboarding and standardisation activities.
  • EQA experience or relevant quality assurance qualification.
  • Experience of representing an organisation with employers, industry groups or professional networks.
  • Leadership and Management Qualification.
