About the role

As we move through a period of significant reform in the vocational sector, we are seeking a highly experienced individual to join our management team and support the design and development of a range of apprenticeship assessments, externally set and marked assessments for regulated qualifications, and manage a growing bank of subject matter experts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Assessment Production team on the development of live assessments for qualifications and apprenticeships
  • Manage the periodic maintenance of live assessments
  • Assessment strategy design, including the design and development of assessment strategies for submission to external regulators/approval bodies for technical evaluation
  • Responding to feedback from external regulators/approval bodies on sample assessments materials, assessment strategies or live assessments
  • Ensuring adherence to regulatory and internal procedures and obligations at all stages of design and development of assessments
  • Be accountable for maintaining standards for all assessments within the area of responsibility, including design and development of assessments
  • Complete and present reports to Head of Assessment Development on team and assessment performance
  • Proactively use data to drive improvements in design and development related to the delivery of externally set and marked assessments for regulated qualifications and wider customer experience
  • Lead recruitment activities for roles such as Assessment Developers and Leads
  • Work with the wider Management Team to ensure a smooth onboarding process for assessment associates and subject matter experts
  • Have direct line management responsibilities for a given remit of assessment roles within the assessment team
  • Use a range of feedback and work outputs to monitor staff performance and output of assessment developers, to drive improvement, taking action as required
  • Work with the wider Management Team to devise an overarching Stakeholder strategy to inform quality improvement and support company growth, taking decisive action as required
  • Manage Quality Assurance activities end to end, acting as the key point of contact
  • Work closely with the EPA, Qualification, Assessment Delivery, and Exams & Operations Managers to support a smooth end-to-end customer journey and enable all designated responsibilities to be fulfilled to the highest level
  • Monitor budgetary expenditure within given remit to ensure value for money inclusive of assisting, as required, with the verification of monthly invoices from associate staff
  • Be prepared to represent, as required, Training Qualification UK at various forums and meetings

Other Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate customer/employer engagement and validation of assessments
  • Continually review operational efficiencies to support growth and an improved stakeholder experience
  • Actively identify and work to mitigate the effects of perceived and realised conflicts of interest, reporting associated risks through appropriate channels
  • Contribute to blogs, articles, and social media posts to grow organisation presence in the sector
  • Work collaboratively with other Leaders/Managers in the organisation to drive quality improvement and support company and team objectives to be achieved
  • Contribute to complaints and/or assessment discrepancies by using expert knowledge to draw conclusions about the case, acting as an authoritative voice in cases where consensus cannot be reached
  • Contribute to investigations into potential malpractice, as required, where additional subject expertise is required for sound conclusions to be drawn about the case
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of Training Qualification UK products and services and an understanding of Training Qualification UK’s internal processes and the wider educational landscape
  • Pro-actively engage with any Training Qualifications UK communications such as internal updates, newsletters, policy updates, or Centre information and cascade information as appropriate
  • Undertake other duties considered within your skill and competence to assist in the smooth running of the business as required

Key Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills
  • Quality and compliance systems related to qualification development

  • Project Management general approaches, tools and applications for growth environments with high workloads and multiple transformation processes
  • Assessment strategy design, including the design and development of assessment strategies for submission to external regulators/approval bodies for technical evaluation
  • Experience of responding to feedback from external regulators/approval bodies on sample assessments materials, assessment strategies or live assessments
  • Developing stakeholder engagement for assessment review and validation
  • Management of resource, budget procedures and services

Desirable

  • Working with remote, online delivery of regulated exams
  • Experience of working on reformed qualification and apprenticeship assessments i.e. Functional Skills, EDSQ – Essential Digital Skills Qualifications, T Levels, Higher Technical Qualifications, Technical Awards, etc.
  • Experience of E-Assessment
